The rules
Verification and AML
Identity checks come before any money moves, and we keep an eye out for activity that does not add up. It protects you, it protects the games, and Canadian rules require it.
Why do we verify players?
Verification stops stolen identities, stolen cards and underage players from getting in. It also ensures that any winnings are paid to the person entitled to them.
Our doors open only where online play is legal under local law, and Canadian rules on age verification, identity checks and anti-money laundering set the course. Verification keeps us inside those rules. Every account is checked. Every single one.
Which records are kept, and what has to be reported?
Records of identity checks, deposits, withdrawals and wagers are kept for the period Canadian law requires. When legally required, we report large transactions to the relevant Canadian authorities, along with any activity we suspect could be connected to money laundering or terrorist financing.
We are legally barred from letting a player know when a report has been made, so we keep it confidential. How this information is stored and protected is set out in our Privacy Notice.
Do we screen for public figures and sanctions?
Yes. We check every account against sanctions lists and lists of politically exposed persons: people who hold or once held a prominent public role, plus their family and close associates.
A match does not mean an automatic refusal. It leads to further questions, closer monitoring and approval from a senior member of our compliance team. If a sanctions match is confirmed, we are unable to open the account or keep it active.
What happens if verification falls short?
Deposits and withdrawals stay on hold until we can verify your identity.
Some problems are more serious. If documents look altered, belong to someone else or clash with your account details, the account is closed and any play linked to the problem is void. Where we suspect a crime, we meet our legal duty to report it. We handle any balance as the law allows and as our Player Agreement sets out.
When will you ask about the source of my funds?
Deposits spike or your activity shifts sharply? We may request proof of where the funds you play with come from. Solid evidence includes:
- your latest payslips, or a letter from the company you work for
- bank statements showing the funds arriving
- documents relating to an inheritance, an investment or the sale of a property
Play may pause while we assess what you send.
How are my identity and age checked, and what documents are accepted?
Sign-up asks for three details: your full name, your date of birth and your home address. Trusted data sources verify them, and we verify your location too, all before you make a first deposit. Entry: 19+.
If the electronic check cannot confirm you, we request documents:
- a valid government-issued photo ID, like a passport or driver's licence
- a recent bank statement or utility bill showing your name and home address
- evidence that you own the payment method, such as a picture of your card with the middle digits hidden, or a screen capture of your e-wallet account
Photos must be clear and in colour, and must show the whole document.
Does checking stop after sign-up?
No. We monitor accounts on an ongoing basis. Our systems flag unusual patterns, such as:
- funds that are deposited and then cashed out after hardly any play
- sudden jumps in deposit size
- several accounts sharing the same details
We may also request fresh documents when yours expire or your details change. Withdrawals only go to methods that belong to you.
How do you contact our verification team?
Send documents and questions to mail@pentictoncasino.app from the email address registered on your account. Every message sent there reaches our team. For further details, see our Player Agreement and Privacy Notice.
